Frankenstein | Harrisburg | March 15 -30, 2025

Abandoned by his creator and left to navigate a hostile world, Frankenstein's bewildered creature faces a harsh, new life of cruelty and isolation. In trying to understand humanity, he gains knowledge and compassion, but he also learns fear and anger. The Creature grows desperate and vengeful, leading him to hunt his maker and forge a terrifying bargain. Timeless themes of scientific responsibility, the nature of humanity, and the essence of good and evil are explored in this gripping and profoundly unsettling gothic tale.

PLEASE NOTE: The actors playing Victor Frankenstein and The Creature will switch roles every other night. This choice, inspired by the original 2011 National Theatre production, is intended to explore the themes of identity, duality, and transformation. Murder By Membership Only | Mechanicsburg | February 21 - March 9, 2025

"How would it look if a roomful of mystery writers had to go to the police to solve a murder that took place under their very noses?"

This murder mystery-comedy occurs in the exclusive Orczy Club, an "inner sanctum" for women mystery writers in London. Most of them hate the arrogant Octavia Sturges, the most successful mystery writer of the day, so it is no surprise when she is found dead—poisoned by one of the poisons she was so fond of using in her stories. But what happens now? Should these specialists in murder try to solve the case themselves—at the risk of their own lives, since obviously the murderer is one of them—or should they call Scotland Yard?

Much Ado About Nothing (Educational Outreach Public Performance| Harrisburg | January 17-19, 2025

Gamut Theatre, the combined theatre of Harrisburg Shakespeare Company and Popcorn Hat Players Children’s Theatre, presents its highly acclaimed educational outreach production of Much Ado About Nothing.

One of Shakespeare’s liveliest plays, this comedy interweaves two plots and two pairs of lovers.  Claudio and Hero, the romantic lovers, inspire poetry and music, but Beatrice, determined never to marry, and Benedick, a confirmed bachelor, are the witty vivacious lovers whose rapid word play will leave you reeling. Dogberry, the buffoonish investigator and his clueless band of watchmen make much ado about everything when they uncover the villainy of the wicked Don John and his plot to destroy the serenity of the town of Messina.

Recommended for ages 12 and up, the production is extremely accessible, employing Gamut’s unique educational engagement style of combining Shakespeare’s original text with modern “narrations” to bridge the most famous scenes from the play together into an easy-to-understand story. One weekend only.
