Shakespeare’s beloved festive comedy follows the journey of Rosalind, daughter to the banished Duke Senior, and her cousin Celia, daughter to the usurping Duke Frederick, as they escape to the Forest of Arden to find Rosalind’s father. Dressed as a shepherd boy, Rosalind encounters Orlando, a young man who has escaped to the forest from his jealous brother Oliver. With an array of quirky characters, silly situations, and beautiful songs, this play explores the nature of love, poetry, family, and what we owe to ourselves and each other in a world of increasing division and strife.

Mad Hatter, Dormouse, and March Hare meet for a tea party to honor Time, who has forgiven the Hatter and set time right once again. When the Jabberwock comes and wreaks havoc, the tea party guests — including the Caterpillar, the Duchess, the Frog Footman, and Tweedledee and Tweedledum — decide that something MUST be done!
The time is 1971, and theatrical impresario, Dimitri Weissmann, hosts a reunion of ex-Follies performers in his crumbling theatre, setting the stage for a parade of brilliant pastiche numbers, including "Losing My Mind" and "I'm Still Here." Amid the reminiscing, two middle-aged couples confront some unpleasant truths about their past and present, coming face-to-face with the future.
Performed as a concert version, this production from Theatre Harrisburg and the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra strips away the traditional heavy scenery to focus on the raw emotional power of the score and the storytelling.
Follies in Concert is part of Theatre Harrisburg’s centennial celebration.
